1. The short version
Aventurine does not collect, transmit, or store your financial data. The Aventurine desktop application is fully offline. It has no servers, no user accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics or telemetry. Everything you enter stays in a single database file on your own device, under your control.
This policy covers three separate things: the Aventurine desktop application, this website (aventurinefinance.com), and the purchase process for the paid Windows license. They are handled differently, so each is described below.
2. Data in the Aventurine application
What it stores
When you use Aventurine, the information you enter (accounts, transactions, balances, categories, and related notes) is written to a local database file on your computer. You choose where that file lives, and you can copy, move, back up, encrypt, or delete it at any time.
Where it goes
Nowhere. Every feature runs entirely on-device. Aventurine makes no network connections to send your financial data anywhere, and we never receive a copy of it. We have no ability to see, access, or recover the contents of your database.
Encryption
Aventurine can encrypt your database with a passphrase you choose. That passphrase is held in memory only while the app is running and is never written to disk or transmitted. If you lose it, we cannot recover your data. That is a property of true local encryption, not a limitation we can work around.
No telemetry
Aventurine contains no analytics, crash reporting, usage tracking, advertising identifiers, or background "phone-home" behavior. We do not know when you open the app, what you do in it, or whether you use it at all.
3. The website
This website (aventurinefinance.com) is a static informational site. It does not require an account and does not ask you to enter financial information.
- Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical request data (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and to keep the site running. We do not use this to build profiles of visitors.
- No advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not run advertising networks or third-party tracking pixels on this site.
- Fonts. The site loads web fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those font files.
4. Purchases
The paid Windows license is sold through our payment provider, Gumroad, which acts as the merchant of record. When you buy a license, you provide your payment and billing details directly to Gumroad. We never see or store your full card details. We receive only the information needed to fulfill and support your order, such as your email address and a record that a license was issued.
Gumroad processes that information under its own privacy policy. We use the email you provide solely to deliver your license, provide support, and send essential information about your purchase.
5. Feature requests
The feature request page does not collect anything itself. When you submit it, your browser opens a prefilled new issue on Aventurine's public GitHub repository, which you then choose to post. Anything you submit that way is handled by GitHub and becomes public on the issue tracker. Don't include private or financial information in a feature request.
6. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of third parties only for the website and purchase flow, never for your in-app financial data:
- Our web host: serves this website.
- Google Fonts: serves the typefaces used on this site.
- Gumroad: processes payments for the Windows license.
- GitHub: hosts the source-available code and the public issue tracker.
Each of these operates under its own privacy policy.
7. Children
Aventurine is intended for adults managing their own finances. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Because the app itself collects nothing, changes here will generally relate to the website or the purchase process rather than your financial data.
